The 2496cc (250) version of the immortal ‘Pagoda’ SL was only made for 12 months, so is the rarest of the much-hallowed breed. The example entrusted to us was a very nice, largely sound car, the interior of which had already been restored. Our job was to attend to the few areas of corrosion and repaint the entire vehicle in the correct shade of metallic blue. We duly attended to the problem areas of the front and boot floor pans, sills and offside inner wheel-arch. Once resprayed, the Mercedes looked as good as new and remains a treat to behold.
